Enrollment FAQs and Links
I have questions about the lottery, waitlist, or general enrollment! Read through the FAQs listed below. If you question is not answered here, please contact our Admissions Director at: mhover@enoriveracademy.org.
I applied last year for the lottery. Do I need to apply again? Yes! If you applied in the past but did not gain a spot at ERA, you will need to apply again. We restart our waitlists each year with the applicants from that year’s lottery.
Do you offer any sort of preferences in the lottery? We offer sibling preference of currently enrolled students. Staff and Board member children are included in this. The only requirement for applying for our lottery is that you are a resident of North Carolina at the time of application.
If one of my children gets a spot in the lottery, will all of my children get in? No, not necessarily. Each grade level’s lottery is run independently. If one of your children gains an open seat in the lottery but your other children do not, any siblings on waitlists will be moved toward the top of their grade level’s waitlist once you accept the spot for the child who gained a seat in the lottery. Once an applicant accepts an offered spot, their siblings qualify for sibling preference.
How to twins work in the lottery? Twins (or any multiples) should each submit an application for the lottery. However, if a twin receives a spot in a lottery drawing or from the waitlist, the other twin will also be admitted at the same time.
What if I don’t gain a spot from the lottery drawing. How do I know where I am on the waitlist? Login to your Scribbles Dashboard using the blue link below. You will see a Waitlist number on the right side of your application listing. This number will tell you how far down your child is on the waitlist. You may need to scroll all the way to the right of the page to see the number if you are using a phone or other mobile device.
My waitlist number changed. What happened? If your waitlist number decreased, you are closer to gaining a spot at ERA. If your waitlist number increased, siblings of currently enrolled or currently enrolling students were moved ahead of your application due to our sibling preference.
Do I need to upload documents to my lottery application? You do not! We will not accept any accompanying documents until an applicant has been offered a spot, accepted, and completed their initial enrollment form.
I’m having trouble with the Scribbles software. What do I do? Please contact our Admissions Director, Morgana Hover, at mhover@enoriveracademy.org.
What chance do I have to get in through the lottery? It all depends on what grade level you are applying for. Typically we have more applicants each year in grades K-12 than our entire enrollment will allow. The grade levels with the most applications are typically Kindergarten, 6th grade, and 9th grade but these are also the easiest years to gain an open spot as we expand the number of students we enroll at those grade levels. On average, we will have around 15 open Kindergarten spots, 10 open 6th grade spots, 0-2 open spots at all other K-8 grade levels, 40 open 9th grade spots, and 10 open spots in grades 10-12.
How many open spots do you have? Currently we are gathering information from our current families to determine how many open spots we will have in each grade level for the 2022-2023 school year. That quantity is currently unknown. On average, we will have around 15 open Kindergarten spots, 10 open 6th grade spots, 0-2 open spots at all other K-8 grade levels, 40 open 9th grade spots, and 10 open spots in grades 10-12.
I got in! Now what? Our Admissions Director, Morgana Hover (mhover@enoriveracademy.org), will email all applicants who received a spot separately from the ScribChoice software. Her email will contain next steps and she will walk families through the enrollment process (also outlined below).
What is the overall Enrollment Process? As seen in the “Enrollment Flowchart” link below, if an applicant is selected in the lottery or from the waitlist, the following process is used: 1. The applicant must choose Accept within the software to officially accept the spot. 2. The applicant must complete the online “Enrollment Application” and upload any requested accompanying documents. The documents required are listed on the applicant’s dashboard once the “Enrollment Application” is complete. 3. The application and uploads are approved and the student is set to be enrolled. 4. Various staff members will finalize the enrollment and overall student records.
