HS Weekly Update 10/25/21

High School Students and Families,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the cooler temperatures.

Congratulations to our Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team who made it to the second round of the NCHSAA State playoffs.  The team will be traveling to Perquimans County on Tuesday for their next match.  Best of luck!

We will have our annual lockdown drill this Wednesday beginning around 1:30 pm. Our teachers will be sharing processes and procedures with their students beginning tomorrow. Our doors will be locked, and no one will be permitted in or out until the end of the drill which should take no more than 15-20 minutes. If you need to sign your student out for an appointment, please plan accordingly.

Please see the latest and greatest below from the high school world:

Updates and Information:

Children’s Market Application: Any ERA student or club in grades K-12 may apply to have a booth at this year’s Children’s Market! Please complete the included application and return the application, $10 fee, and accompanying photos to Mrs. Hover (mhover@enoriveracademy.org) by November 19. NOTE: K-2 classes already have booths at the market. Questions may be directed to Mrs. Hover.

Athletics:  If you missed last week’s interest meeting about the swim team, it’s not too late.  See Mr. Oakley or contact Coach Grant Alford at galford@enoriveracademy.org for more information.

Auditions for Winter Play:  The Performing Arts Club will be hosting auditions next week for the winter play.  For more information, contact Ms. Mikayla Gray at mgray@enoriveracademy.org

Service Day:  Just a reminder that October 26 is a service day for our freshmen, select juniors, and seniors.  Students SHOULD NOT report to campus unless they are testing.  Students can choose to visit a college, volunteer with a local agency, or shadow in a potential career field.

Future Visions Meeting: Are you interested in contributing your time and ideas to Eno River Academy? Consider joining the next ERA Future Visions meeting! This year we have a special focus on outdoor learning and athletic spaces. Our next Future Visions meeting will take place at 5pm on 10/27 on Zoom.

Diversity and Inclusion Meeting: Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26th at 5:30pm. We will share the link to the meeting in next week’s update.

Upload Photos to the Yearbook Class:  Click here for a QR code that will take any school community member directly to the photo upload site. It’s a more succinct way to upload photos! Questions may be directed to Ms. Webb at lwebb@enoriveracademy.org.

National Art Honors Society:  We are so excited to make our ornaments again this year in order to raise funds for our society.  We will be working on them over the course of the next month but wanted to give you a chance for customization and order priority! Pick up will be Dec. 4th at the ERA Children’s Market. Here is an order form along with some visual examples, check it out and support our student artists!  https://forms.gle/m6RCFP83H9wfcins8

Good News Gazette:  We have many talented students here at ERA and want to highlight their great accomplishments inside and outside the classroom.  Feel free to share any good news with Dr. Davis. This will be a feature in each weekly message. Click here to view.
