HS Weekly Update 2/22/22

High School Students and Families,

Happy Twos-Day!

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. I am certainly loving the warmer temps, but it looks like we will be back to winter next week. Hopefully, spring will come sooner rather than later.

Here are this week’s updates and reminders:

Upcoming Meetings: All meetings will be held via Zoom and will begin at 5:00 pm except the Board of Directors meeting which will begin at 5:30 pm in February. Tonight’s Board meeting will focus on the parent survey from November/December and the mask survey from last week.

Lottery Results: Siblings that applied in our lottery will find out if they received a spot on February 25.

Service Day, ACT Testing, & CPR Training:  On March 1, all juniors will take the ACT, beginning at 8:30.  Since the testing requires so many staff and classroom spaces, this will be a service day (like we had in the fall) for our freshmen and sophomores.  For our seniors, we will have CPR training for any who have not completed this as it is part of the graduation requirements.  More information will be emailed to juniors about testing and seniors who need CPR training.

Spring Registration Kickoff & Curriculum Fair:  Believe it or not, it’s time to begin thinking about classes for the 2022-2023 school year.  Our registration season launches on Tuesday, March 8 with an overview in CATS time and our Curriculum Fair that evening from 5:30-7. The Curriculum Fair is designed to help students learn more about all of our courses including AP courses along with other high school information such as dual enrollment and college planning.

Latest Issue of Bobcat Weekly:  Click here for the latest issue of our student newspaper, Bobcat Weekly. The Bobcast also dropped a new episode on Spotify. The Bobcast Episode 7 features a story on Ms. Whalen and her induction into the NC Music Hall of Fame with her band The Squirrel Nut Zippers.

From the FCS Club (HS): The Fellowship of Christian Students is hosting an Eno River Academy Color Run! It is a 1 Mile Fun Run and 5K fundraiser including family-friendly activities, explosions of colors, and an amazing opportunity to better our school community. The purpose is to impact and support our community and include everyone who would like to have a day full of fun! Proceeds of this event will support PORCH Hillsborough, an organization committed to fighting hunger in Northern Orange County, and the Fellowship of Christian Students Club. Here is a link to sign up and one to volunteer.

Spring Driver’s Ed Class:  The spring session of Driver’s Education will be held March 14-April 1, 2022, meeting Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m.  Students are expected to attend all classes even if it’s a workday, or there is inclement weather.  Students must be 14.5 years old to register.  Priority is given based on birthdate.  The cost is $50 and must be paid the week of March 7. The deadline to register is March 1. To register, click here to complete the form

Spring Blood Drive:  Our National Honor Society wants to get your input about hosting a spring blood drive similar to what we hosted in the fall.  Click here to complete a survey if you are willing to participate.

Good News Gazette: Click here for the latest update of our students’ accomplishments.  We had several of our art students to recently place or receive an honorable mention at the 2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Competition.  If you have good news to share, feel free to send it to Dr. Davis.

Lottery Results: Siblings that applied in our lottery will find out if they received a spot on February 25.

Covid Dashboard: 2 total (K-12) reported 2/15-2/22. K-8: 2 and HS: 0

Previous cases: K-8: 58 cases and HS: 47 cases

Thank you for your continued support throughout this school year.  We appreciate it!

Have a great week!
