HS Weekly Update 8/11/21

High School Students and Families,

Thank you for a smooth start and transition back to in-person learning this year.  It has been great to see our students back in the building and enjoying all the aspects of school while still adhering to safety protocols.

Updates and Information:

Board of Directors Meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for August 17 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The meeting will be at the K8 building.

PM Traffic Pattern:  We have been monitoring and adjusting the afternoon traffic pattern in order to get cars out more quickly and efficiently.  Click here to access the updated traffic map with details.  Thanks for your patience as we have tweaked to make this flow more smoothly.

Electronic Device Checkout:  For students who wish to checkout an ERA Chromebook device this year, we are asking parents to complete this form.  Once completed, an ERA HS staff member will then issue a device to the student.

2021 Yearbooks:  Yearbooks are in and have been distributed to students’ CATS teams.  Students may get those this week.

Schedule Changes: Our team has reviewed all schedule change requests that were submitted via the form. Students have received updated schedules with any changes. We are not granting any schedule changes at this point unless it is teacher-directed or there is an extenuating circumstance.

Beginning of Year Paperwork: REQUIRED for ALL students: Each family must complete the following three forms at the beginning of each school year. The deadline to complete these is August 13, 2021. Mrs. Hover will reach out to you if the deadline is not made.

PSAT:  ERA will be offering our current 11th graders the opportunity to take the PSAT on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.  The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT college admissions test and serves as a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship Competition.  This test is completely optional for Juniors. To register, complete this form by Tuesday, August 17, 2021.  There will be a fee of $18 which must be submitted to the High School Office no later than Friday, August 20, 2021.  Please make checks payable to Eno River Academy. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Wall at swall@enoriveracademy.org

Carpool Information:  If you are interested in carpooling with other ERA families, we have developed a contact sheet to share information.

Athletics:  Please visit the following document or the ERA Athletics website for ongoing updates with our Athletics Department including tryout dates for fall season sports.

Parking Passes for Student Drivers:  This is the last week to purchase a parking pass for the fall semester for students who plan to drive and park during the school day. The cost for the parking permit is $100 for the entire school year or $50 for the fall or spring semester.  Seniors will get priority in their parking spot followed by juniors and then sophomores.  Click here for parking information and details.

Student/Parent Dashboard:  Our team has created a Student/Parent Dashboard that will be a one-stop shop for all the information and major questions you may have including access to forms, athletics, the school calendar, and more. The Dashboard will be updated as the year progresses.

PowerSchool:  If you need PowerSchool help or assistance such as a password reset, submit a request using this form, and a team member will get back to you within 24 hours or sooner.

Medication:  If your student needs to take prescription medication during school hours, please review, complete, and sign this form that lets us know all the specific information.  We will also need the medication in a labeled prescription bottle in order to dispense.

Fall Driver’s Ed Class:  The fall session of Driver’s Ed is scheduled for August 23-September 14.  Clases will be online.  Students must be 14.5 to register, and priority will be given to students based on their birthdate.  Click here to register.

School Hours Reminder: Classes at the high school begin promptly at 8:30 am. Drop off begins at 7:45 am. Please have your student remain in the car until you see gym doors open and a staff member in place to welcome them into the building. The school day ends at 3:30 p.m. Students who are in the building after 3:45 p.m. must be in a supervised activity with a staff member.  All other students will be asked to exit the building.

Summer 2022 Europe Trip:  ERA High School will be offering a 13-day trip to Italy, France, and Spain for the summer of 2022, departing early June.  Click here to see the itinerary. Email Dr. Davis for more information if interested.

Good News Gazette:  We have many talented students here at ERA and want to highlight their great accomplishments inside and outside the classroom.  Feel free to share any good news with Dr. Davis. This will be a feature in each weekly message.

Thanks again for your patience as we continue to work through the logistics of being back fully in-person after a 15 month hiatus.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need additional information.
