HS Weekly Update 8/16/21

High School Students and Families,

Thank you for continued patience as we work out those back-to-school hiccups and kinks with some of our logistics.  We appreciate your understanding as we continue to monitor and adjust.

Here are the latest updates from the high school world:

Updates and Information:

Board of Directors Meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for August 17 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The meeting will be at the K8 building.

PM Traffic Pattern:  We have been monitoring and adjusting the afternoon traffic pattern in order to get cars out more quickly and efficiently.  Click here for directions/information along with a map.  Thanks for your patience as we have tweaked to make this flow more smoothly.

Welcome, Baby Schaffer:  Congratulations to our school counselor Mr. Schaffer and his wife Meena, who welcomed their first child yesterday.  Bodhi Elton Schaffer arrived at 7:38 p.m. on Sunday, August 15.  Mom and baby are doing well.  Click here for pictures.

PSAT:  ERA will be offering our current 11th graders the opportunity to take the PSAT on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.  The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT college admissions test and serves as a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship Competition.  This test is completely optional for Juniors. To register, complete this form by Tuesday, August 17, 2021.  There will be a fee of $18 which must be submitted to the High School Office no later than Friday, August 20, 2021.  Please make checks payable to Eno River Academy. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Wall at swall@enoriveracademy.org

Carpool Information:  If you are interested in carpooling with other ERA families, we have developed a contact sheet to share information.

Athletics:  Please visit the following document or the ERA Athletics website for ongoing updates with our Athletics Department including tryout dates for fall season sports.

Student/Parent Dashboard:  Our team has created a Student/Parent Dashboard that will be a one-stop shop for all the information and major questions you may have including access to forms, athletics, the school calendar, and more. The Dashboard will be updated as the year progresses.

Medication:  If your student needs to take prescription medication during school hours, please review, complete, and sign this form that lets us know all the specific information.  We will also need the medication in a labeled prescription bottle in order to dispense.

School Hours Reminder: Classes at the high school begin promptly at 8:30 am. Drop off begins at 7:45 am. Please have your student remain in the car until you see gym doors open and a staff member in place to welcome them into the building. The school day ends at 3:30 p.m. Students who are in the building after 3:45 p.m. must be in a supervised activity with a staff member.  All other students will be asked to exit the building.

Summer 2022 Europe Trip:  ERA High School will be offering a 13-day trip to Italy, France, and Spain for the summer of 2022, departing early June.  Click here to see the itinerary. Email Dr. Davis for more information if interested.

Good News Gazette:  We have many talented students here at ERA and want to highlight their great accomplishments inside and outside the classroom.  Feel free to share any good news with Dr. Davis. This will be a feature in each weekly message.
