HS Weekly Update 9/27/21

High School Students and Families,

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful fall weather this weekend. I am now ready for sweater weather!  Just a reminder that Wednesday, September 19th is an early release day. We will dismiss at 12 p.m.

Updates and Information:

Student Food Pantry:  We have a few students who cannot afford lunch each day.  If you are willing to sponsor a student by purchasing an extra lunch through MyHotLunchBox or donate to the student food pantry, please email Dr. Davis, and she will coordinate.

Check Out:  For parents or authorized adults coming to the front office to check out a student, please be sure to have ID ready to show to our front office staff.  For students who are self-driving, please have your parent/guardian call the front office or send a note to authorize an early release.  We want a safe campus, and these two protocols will help ensure that.

Excused vs. Unexcused Absences:  Click here for more information on what counts as an excused versus unexcused absence for school.  This is per NC attendance laws.

Athletics:  Please visit the following document or the ERA Athletics website for ongoing updates with our Athletics Department including tryout dates for fall season sports.

Future Visions Meeting: Are you interested in contributing your time and ideas to Eno River Academy? Consider joining the next ERA Future Visions meeting! This year we have a special focus on outdoor learning and athletic spaces. Future Visions will meet on Wednesday, September 29th at 5pm on Zoom

Blood Drive: Are you interested in donating blood? Click here for more information.

Student Library Accounts: All ERA students have a Student Easy Access Account with the Orange County Public Library! A letter is included sharing information on how to access and use this free library account to check out items, access online resources, and more.

Children’s Market: Save the Date for Children’s Market! This year, booths will be open to any student or club in grades K-12. More information coming soon.

Covid Dashboard: Beginning this week, we will begin sharing our Covid numbers in our weekly updates. Currently, all transmissions have been from outside of school.

Since the beginning of school:

K-8: 7 cases

HS: 3 cases

  • A fully virtual Book Fair experience where you and your child can browse nearly 300 titles by grade, meet popular authors, watch book videos, and discover the magic of reading.
  • Direct access to over 5,000 additional titles with family-friendly prices at the Scholastic Store Online
  • Rewards that benefit our school directly—25% of every purchase will go back to our school community.

Check out this letter that includes a virtual tour and book trailers and get a jump on the Virtual Store to stock your bookshelves! Teacher wish lists will be available soon!

Makeup Picture Day:  We will have makeup pictures for students in grades 9-11 as well as senior portraits on October 7.  We will share more information with students as we get closer to the date.

Good News Gazette:  We have many talented students here at ERA and want to highlight their great accomplishments inside and outside the classroom.  Feel free to share any good news with Dr. Davis. This will be a feature in each weekly message.

Thank you for your continued support throughout this school year.  We appreciate it!

Have a great week!
