K8 Weekly Update 1/11/21

Happy Monday ERA Families,
I hope you all had a great weekend. I was so disappointed that we didn’t get any snow last Friday! Hopefully, we can get a little before spring comes our way. Just a reminder that Monday, January 18th is a school holiday.
Here are this week’s updates and reminders:
1. Intent to Enroll Application WebinarAre you stuck on figuring out the new software used to submit your intent to enroll applications for your students? If you have not yet submitted your forms, consider attending our webinar on Thursday, January 14 at 5:00pm. Mrs. Hover will walk you through a demo family and student’s family dashboard setup and intent to enroll application. The webinar will be recorded and the recording shared in next week’s update. Zoom Meeting link in original email.

2. Intent to Enroll Application: Each year we ask that you complete an Intent to Enroll form in January to ensure you retain your spot at ERA or denounce it for the following year if that is your family’s decision. This is a required form for each student  – Due by January 29. This year the form will look a bit different than in the past! A letter is provided explaining the new process. You will need to create your Family Dashboard account and submit Intent to Enroll Applications for each current student (see step 4e). If you have questions, please ask Mrs. Hover!  She is happy to email (mhover@enoriveracademy.org) or set up an appointment to walk you through any trouble spots over the next month.

3. K-8 School Pictures: We have scheduled January, 19 as our school yearbook picture day from 9:00-4:00! Please sign each of your enrolled children in grades K-8 for an appointment time here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090B4EADA62DA3FC1-k8school

NOTES:
  • COVID regulations, distancing, questionnaires, and temperature checks will be followed.
  • Parents will complete the COVID Symptom Screening for student(s)/family and student(s) temperature will be checked prior to student(s) exiting the vehicle. If any question is answered “Yes” or a student(s) temperature is too high they will not be allowed to exit their vehicle and will forfeit their appointment.
  • Masks must be worn to exit the vehicle and remain on. Students may remove their mask as their picture is taken and then it must be put back on.
  • Barring rain, students will be inside only to have their picture taken and then immediately exit the building. Socially distanced waiting lines will be located outside.
4. Friday Schedule Changes: The weekly optional STEAM Activity and First Chapter Friday videos will no longer be offered in accordance with parent feedback received at the end of December. Instead, new and more social opportunities will be provided to students during this time including an offering for K-2 Spanish. Stay tuned!
5. K-2 Spanish: Students in grades K-2 now have an optional opportunity to practice Spanish using the platform Duolingo for Schools during their Friday flex time. This platform is available via computer usage or the Duolingo app. This opportunity partly replaces the previous STEAM Activity and was suggested through parent feedback. Classroom teachers will provide families a letter with login information this week. Questions may be directed to Mrs. Hover (mhover@enoriveracademy.org).
6. Diversity and Inclusion Task Force:  The next meeting will be on January 11 at 5 p.m.  Click here for the meeting link and information.
7. January ERA Board of Directors Meeting:  The next Board meeting will be held on January 20 from 5-7 p.m.  Click here for the meeting link and information.
Have a great week!
