Good Morning ERA Families,
I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! It was so nice having a few days to regroup and get ready for the week ahead.
Here are this week’s updates:
1. STEAM Activity for September 11: The K-8 campus-wide family STEAM Activity for September 11 is linked here. This is an optional activity!
We will be making Leaf/Nature Art this week! You can make as many as you want, then put the items you used back into nature! Included in the instructions is a Padlet link to upload photos of your completed projects (password is ERAbobcats). The link may also be shared by your teachers.
2. First Chapter Friday for September 11: The K-8 campus-wide family First Chapter Friday video for September 11 is linked here. This is an optional video to watch! This week, Mrs. Hughes will read from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. The link may also be shared by your teachers.
3. New K-5 Remote Learning Schedule:
We are happy to soon welcome back Mrs. Velasco after her maternity leave! Beginning September 14, our K-5 Remote Learning Schedule will change slightly to incorporate Art class. The updated schedule is located here. It will also be updated on our website later this week.
4. Middle School Parent Communication:
~If students are not turning on their camera and not responding via chat or ‘thumbs up’, we will be scheduling special Friday zoom sessions to check for understanding. We’re aware of some connectivity issues and hoping to have those hot spots soon. Please let teachers know your expectations for cameras regarding your student.
~If students are refusing to turn on their cameras during assessments, students will receive alternate assessments that they will be able to take on Fridays with cameras on. Cameras are the only way for us to give assessments with fidelity.
~Athletics Town Hall: On Thursday, September 10 from 5-6 p.m., Mrs. Hartingh, Dr. Davis and I will host a town hall meeting regarding athletics for the 2020-2021 school year. This will include the most recent updates from the NC High School Athletic Association and our athletic conference. Click here to access the meeting information. You can submit your questions in advance using this document.(Link is in the original email and will not be shared publicly outside of current ERA families.)
5. Progress Report Parade:
It’s hard to believe that progress reports will be finalized this week. We thought it would be fun to ‘see’ you and your student and cheer on your successes! Since we have an early release day next week (9/16), we would love for you to drive through our car line and pick up the progress report and any other materials from their teachers. Our staff will be lined up from 12:00pm-1:30pm. You will just drive through as if you were dropping off your student and stay in your car. We will come to you! If you can’t make it, we will email you the progress report the following day! Mark your calendars and we will see you then! This is for K-8 only.
Have a great week!
Lisa
