Good Afternoon,
I hope this finds you all doing well and enjoying the last few weeks of summer. I wanted to share the broad strokes of our plan for August so that you could get your planning underway.
We are aware that there isn’t a great solution to please everyone but our #1 priority is the safety of students and staff. With that in mind, we have decided to begin the year remotely for all grade levels and re-evaluate prior to Labor Day.
There are many factors that we considered in making this decision including:
- We are all fighting for resources to keep our students safe and will likely not have everything we need in time for our early August start. We ordered these items last month but shipping is slow and availability is scarce.
- Parents overwhelmingly wanted to have an online option for school and are concerned about sending their students back in August.
- The virus numbers are not trending down and our staff has shared their concern in returning to the classroom at this time.
Please know that the remote learning that took place during crisis mode in March-May will not be the remote learning you’ll see in August. It will be more organized and robust. We will be sharing the remote plan with the Board of Directors on Tuesday night, July 21st and will update the website with the plan the following day. We will use August 6th and 7th as digital orientation days and remote learning will begin on Monday, August 10th.
So what will September and beyond look like? If the virus numbers are trending down, we will begin our transition to Plan B in K-8 and hopefully the high school as well. We have created a 50% capacity plan that will alternate your student between one week in school and one week remote learning. All students in a family would attend the same week. We will go more in depth into that and will share it in the next couple of weeks.
What if you are still uncomfortable sending your student even in Plan B? We will have a remote learning option where your student will be able to see their teacher in the classroom via technology but not have to attend in-person until you are comfortable.
I know this is a lot to digest and I know you have lots of questions. Dr. Davis and I will be hosting a Town Hall meeting via Zoom tomorrow night (7/16) at 6pm. This is the login information:
(Link is in the original email and will not be shared publicly outside of current ERA families.)
Mrs. Hover will be moderating this event for us. If you have a question you’d like us to address, please email her at mhover@enoriveracademy.org. We can only host 100 people but I will record it and email out in case you can’t attend.
As always, thank you for your grace and patience as we make these difficult decisions.
Take care,
Lisa
